Title:
1st Grade Teacher
Nana Romero

Back in the day, when I was too young to be a classroom teacher, I was a camp counselor, tutor, babysitter, singing teacher, and volunteer for children in need locally and internationally. I loved working with children for my entire life, and nothing has brought me more joy. I received my B.A. in Musical Theater with a minor in Education in 2008, followed by also completing my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and my Masters in Teaching, all at the University of California, Irvine. I then went on to receive an additional certificate in Instructional Strategies for Differentiated Learning from Pacific Lutheran University in 2019. In 2022, I took more courses through Pacific Lutheran University on supporting students with various learning differences, and additionally completed a week-long course of Orton Gillingham phonic training in the spring of 2023. As a lifelong learner, I make sure to enroll in teacher training sessions each summer and continuously refresh my knowledge throughout the school year. I love teaching at the Los Altos School District! I grew up in Los Altos and attended Santa Rita and Egan as a student. I am forever grateful for the education I received, and am so happy to be back for my 9th year of teaching at LASD and my 15th year of teaching. I have experience teaching Pre-K through 5th grade and have also worked as an Intervention Specialist. I have a background in singing and singing/musical theater instruction and love to incorporate music in my classroom. I am both a Covington teacher and also a parent to my own Covington coyotes! In my free time, I enjoy baking, watching movies & live theater performances, and hiking with my husband, a cancer research scientist, my 8 year old daughter, Mia (entering grade 3), my 4 year old daughter, Lily (entering TK!), 8 month old baby boy Jacob, and my 12 year old sweet beagle/dachshund/chihuahua rescue mutt, Kinney.
